MOVIE NEWS

FANTASTIC FOUR 2

Returning director Tim Story has revealed how they plan to portray supporting character The Silver Surfer (right) in the Fantastic Four sequel, saying: "The Surfer will be a new CGI design being developed especially for the movie. It's going to be incredible."

AVATAR

James Cameron's next movie will involve a great deal of motion-capture, and WETA (Peter Jackson's company that worked on Lord Of The Rings and King Kong) have supposedly been approached to get involved...

HE-MAN

'CanMag.Com' report that John Woo's Spyhunter and He-Man movies have both stalled while the director returns to Hong Kong to make movies for awhile...

HIS DARK MATERIALS

'New Line Cinema' are finally moving ahead with the movie adaptations to Philip Pullman's fantasy trilogy, with Chris Weitz back in charge of the $150 million first movie The Golden Compass (the UK novel was known as Northern Lights). The production have already cast young heroine Lyra, an unknown actress called Dakota Blue Richards, who apparently impressed author Pullman immensely. Filming starts on 4 September.

I AM LEGEND

'BlackFilm.com' revealed that Johnny Depp will co-star in I Am Legend, from director Francis Lawrence, alongside Will Smith. Smith is playing the lead role in the post-apocalyptic adventure, previously made as The Omega Man, with Depp set to play a fellow survivor named Philip. In related news, a recent draft of the script has made the monsters unable to speak, with more emphasis on primal unintelligence.

INDIANA JONES 4

'The Hollywood Reporter' mentioned that the latest draft of Indiana Jones, this time from David Koepp, is expected to be handed in within the next 3 months. After going through years of drafts with dozens of screenwriters, will this finally be the script that ensures Spielberg, Harrison Ford and George Lucas actually make the bloody thing before Ford pushes up the daisies?

TRAILERS

Transformers" - Announcement Trailer (click here for trailer)

Trans-for-mers, robots in disguiseeee...
Ah. A child of the 80's.

Oh yes. Please tell me a movie is on the way with massive transforming robots.
Okay. A movie is on the way with massive transforming robots.

YES! Who's directing this? Steven Spielberg? Clint Eastwood? Ron Howard? Peter Weir?
Michael Bay.

Oh good! He can blow shit up very nicely.
Yep! As witnessed in The Rock, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys and The Island.

Does the trailer look cool?
It's... well, interesting. This is just an announcement trailer, not even a teaser, and shows the Beagle 2 mission's "reality".

This reality being...
It didn't burn up on entry into Mars; it landed safely and was stomped on by a giant transforming robot!

I see.
Like I said, just an announcement trailer to let everyone know a Transformers movie is on the way. I'm sure it will be every bit as dumb and stuffed full of exciting explosions and special-effects as you're imagining...
