MOVIE NEWS

FANTASTIC FOUR

'USA Today' has revealed the Fantastic Four cast in full make-up (see right). Jessica Alba (TV's Dark Angel) plays Susan Storm/Invisible Woman, Ioan Gruffudd (King Arthur) plays Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic, Chris Evans (Cellular) plays Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Michael Chiklis (TV's The Shield) plays Ben Grimm/Thing.

Well, despite concerns over the script and the re-imagining of Dr Doom (played by Julian McMahon of TV's Nip/Tuck) these pictures certainly look quite satisfying - although Thing does look like a burns victim, and Johnny Storm isn't blonde. Still, these are somewhat geeky objections most people won't care about...

HIS DARK MATERIALS

'BridgetotheStars.net' have an excellent interview with writer Chris Weitz (About A Boy), who is attached to direct the movie adaptation of Philip Pullman's acclaimed trilogy His Dark Materials, comprised of Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass.

You can read the interview here: Bridge to the Stars.net

LAND OF THE DEAD

Simon Baker (The Ring 2), John Leguizamo (Assault On Precinct 13), Asia Argento (xXx), and Robert Joy are joining Dennis Hopper in George A. Romero's Land Of The Dead, which starts filming on 11 October in Toronto.

Written and directed by Romero, the movie is set in the modern world where the living inhabit a walled-in city, protected from the walking dead that populate the wasteland beyond.

Baker, Argento and Leguizamo all play a team of soldiers sent out to do battle with the gathering and evolving zombie threat in a tank-like vehicle called the Dead Reckoning.

SUPERHERO!

'Dimension Films' has asked its Scary Movie 3 team of David Zucker, Craig Mazin and Robert Weiss to tackle Superhero!, reports 'Variety'.

The spoof comedy will poke fun at the multitude of superhero films, from Spider-Man to next summer's Batman Begins and Fantastic Four. Mazin will script, Zucker will direct and Weiss is producing.

TERMINATOR 4

Terminator 4 is ready to start production next year, now Terminator 3 screenwriters John Brancato and Michael Ferris have completed a draft of the screenplay, overseen by T3's director Jonathan Mostow.

Mostow is expected to direct T4 after shooting his next movie, while Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to appear in a cameo role. Nick Stahl and Claire Danes are both contracted to star in T4.
