MOVIE NEWS

SPIDER-MAN 3

'Sony Pictures' has revealed a first look at a villain, played by Thomas Haden Church (Sideways), from the highly-anticipated Spider-Man 3 at the film's official website.

The studio is keeping the villain's name under wraps (though it's quite clearly Sandman!)

Spider-Man 3, again directed by Sam Raimi, swings into cinemas on 4 May 2007. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst and James Franco will return, alongside Church and Topher Grace (who is rumoured to be playing arch-nemesis Venom).

BIG NOTHING

David Schwimmer (Friends) and Simon Pegg (Shaun Of The Dead) have joined the cast of Jean-Baptiste Andrea's Big Nothing for 'Pathe Pictures', says 'The Hollywood Reporter'.

The movie is a fast-paced and tightly plotted black comedy, written by Andrea and William Asher.

IRON MAN

'New Line Cinema' have now lost the rights to create a movie from 'Marvel' property Iron Man. The company had been trying to develop the movie, at one time with Tom Cruise attached to star, but have consistently failed.

RESIDENT EVIL - AFTERLIFE

The third instalment of the franchise is set to film soon, again written by Paul W.S Anderson (Alien Vs Predator). In the third movie, the Australian outback will double for the Nevada desert, while a fourth movie is rumoured to be set in Japan.

Milla Jovovich is expected to reprise her action heroine role as Alice.

SAW III

Producer Gregg Hoffman assures fans that plans for Saw III are already in place, thanks to the success of its sequel this Halloween. Saw II only cost $4 million to make, yet has already taken $60 million at the box-office!

'Lions Gate Films', distributor of the films, has already registered Saw3.com, which currently takes you to the studio's official site.
