MOVIE NEWS

KNIGHT RIDER

'Dimension Films' are apparently quite close to going ahead with a movie adaptation of cult 80's action-adventure series Knight Rider, about a high-tech talking car called K.I.T.T that helps Michael Knight (David Hasselhoff, right) fight crime. No word yet on casting, but it's likely Hasselhoff will cameo and William Daniels reprise his role as K.I.T.T, with creator Glen Larson penning a "darker" script than the TV show.

(DVDfever Dom adds: "Knight Rider wouldn't be Knight Rider without The Hoff in the lead role!")

HIS DARK MATERIALS

Director Anand Tucker has stepped down from the project, to be replaced by Chris Weitz (the director he originally replaced!) Weitz stepped aside because he didn't think he could handle the extensive visuals required to bring Philip Pullman's novels to life, but maybe he had a change of heart?

RESIDENT EVIL - EXTINCTION

The official website for singer-actress Ashanti (right) has revealed that she will appear in the final installment of the Resident Evil movies, entitled Extinction. Milla Jovovich, Oded Fehr, Sienna Guillory, Mike Epps and Iain Glen are also set to star in the third movie based on the popular video-game franchise.

Director Russell Mulcahy (Highlander) is at the helm, working from a script by Paul W.S Anderson (Alien Vs Predator).

THE MUTANT CHRONICLES

Director Simon Hunter already has Thomas Jane starring in this movue about a military leader in a fight against NecroMutants who are threatening Earth. John Malkovich is attached to star, and now Stephen Rea (V For Vendetta) has joined the cast as Richard Crenna (Jane's former commander). Ron Perlman (Hellboy) has also joined the movie as a religious leader who recruits Jane to stop the mutants).

TRANSFORMERS

Director Michael Bay is beginning to cast the voices in his upcoming Transformers movie, adapted from the '80s cartoon series and toys. Jon Voight, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel and Bernie Mac are now signed to lend their voices to the transforming robots. Rumour also has it that Michael Clarke Duncan, John Turturro and Tyrese may also provide voices, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
