MOVIE NEWS

24: THE MOVIE

'The Calgary Sun' reports that a movie based on smash-hit TV series 24, starring Kiefer Sutherland as Agent Jack Bauer, is in the works.

Canadian director/producer Jon Cassar said: "The last I heard, the first hour will not be in real-time, but then something big will happen and real time will kick in. It still has to be worked out - it's at a stage where they need to write it."

"It could still be two years from now, so it's far too early to say [what the plot might be.]"

Incidentally, it was rumoured last year that the plot would involve a hostage crisis.

(DVDfever Dom adds: "I'm a massive fan of the TV series and really don't think it could work as a movie, partly because it thrives on being in real-time and partly because watching the TV series itself is like watching 24 mini-movies, the content is that intense. Please don't dilute this fantastic concept in this way!")

CHRONICLES OF NARNIA - THE LION, THE WITCH & THE WARDROBE

The one-sheet poster for the new fantasy saga based on C.S Lewis' best-selling books, has been released. (see right)

ALICE

The adaptation of 'EA Games' surreal slant on Alice In Wonderland, known simply as Alice, is finally coming to the cinema.

Director Marcus Nispel (Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2004) will helm the project for 'Universal' with Sarah Michelle Gellar as Alice - a recent orphan who must escape from a loony bin and return to the freaky Wonderland to stop the tyranny of The Queen Of Hearts.

The original game was the creation of director American McGee (Charlie's Angels) and the screenplay's treatment was written by John August (Charlie's Angels) before being written by Erich and Jon Hoeber.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 3

Laurence Fishburne (The Matrix) has joined the cast of M:I-3 as Tom Cruise's mentor.

THE MUMMY 3

Brendan Fraser (The Mummy) has confirmed that a script for a third Mummy movie, written by Stephen Sommers, does exist... but that the project is still firmly in the air at the moment.

The Fog (2005) (weblink)

'Columbia Pictures' has released the official website for The Fog remake, which opens in the US on 14 October.

In the horror-thriller, there really is something out there in the dark. One hundred years ago, in a thick, eerie fog off the rocky coast of Northern California, a horrible shipwreck occurred under mysterious circumstances. Now, shrouded in darkness, the ghosts of the long-dead sailors have returned from their watery graves to exact their bloody, merciless revenge.

Directed by Rupert Wainwright, The Fog stars Tom Welling, Maggie Grace, Selma Blair (right), DeRay Davis and Rade Serbedzija
