FANTASTIC FOUR 2
USA Today caught up with 2006 MTV Movie Awards host Jessica Alba (right), who talked
about 20th Century Fox's Fantastic Four 2.
"We start 'Fantastic Four 2' in August," said Alba. "The four of us learn
that there are other people out there with superpowers, and the Silver
Surfer appears as a villain/hero. And another villain comes in as well. My
character, Susan Storm, has another love triangle and may use a power people
haven't seen before. She's the most powerful of the four."
HALLOWEEN - REMAKE
Director Rob Zombie (The Devil's Rejects) is in talks to helm the remake of
John Carpenter's seminal horror masterpiece Halloween - the first movie to
feature serial-killer Michael Myers, in a tale that originally starred Jamie
Lee Curtis and Donald Pleasance.
SAW III
The third Saw movie is due for release on 27 October, just in time for
Halloween yet again, and 'Lionsgate' have released details of the plot. In
Saw III Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda have disappearede, leaving city
detectives scrambling to locate him. Meanwhile, Doctor Lynn Denlon (Bahar
Soomekh) is unaware that she is about to become the latest pawn on his
vicious chessboard. One night, after finishing a shift at her hospital, Lynn
is kidnapped and taken to an abandoned warehouse where she meets Jigsaw,
bedridden and on the verge of death.
She is told that she must keep the
madman alive for as long as it takes Jeff (Angus Macfayden), another of his
victims, to complete a game of his own. Racing against the ticking clock of
Jigsaw's own heartbeat, Lynn and Jeff struggle to make it through each of
their vicious tests, unaware that he has a much bigger plan for both of
them...
Saw III will again stars Shawnee Smith (Amanda) and Tobin Bell (Jigsaw). The
film is being directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II), from a story by
franchise originators Leigh Whannell and James Wan, with the screenplay
penned by Whannell.
WOLVERINE
'USA Today' published an update on the various X-Men spin-off movies in the
works. The first spinoff will be Hugh Jackman's Wolverine. His character has
an as-yet-unrevealed back story in which researchers replaced his original
bones with a metal skeleton. Jackman has signed on to star and co-produce,
and X-Men producer Lauren Shuler Donner says it will likely head into
production next year.
Hutch Parker, production president of 'Fox' said: "We've also talked about
doing something on the kids in (Professor X's) school, focusing on their
lives, and less of a global adventure for the team."
The studio is also exploring a movie with director David O. Russell (Three
Kings) based on the character of Emma Frost, a sexy mutant telepath who can
transform her skin into diamonds. She is an X-Men comics regular but has not
featured in the movies.
Another likely solo project is Magneto, which is currently in the script
phase. The film will focus on his youthful pre-villain days, although Ian
McKellen's could be involved for present day scenes used to anchor the
movie's flashbacks.
