BATTLE ANGEL ALITA
Director James Cameron (Terminator 2) has confirmed that he will next direct
a big screen adaptation of Yukito Kishiro's anime comic Battle Angel Alita.
Cameron: "We're in pre-production right now on a project called Battle Angel
which is something I've been working on for several years and we're just,
we're finishing up the shooting draft right now."
"We've been designing, it's a big science fiction film and a couple things
that will be interesting about this project - the main character, even
though it's a live action film, the main character will be done with CG
animation and the second thing that's interesting is we're going to be
shooting it in 3D using the stereo imagining system that we've been
developing for the documentaries."
Cameron hasn't directed a feature-film, ignoring last year's Ghosts Of The
Abyss documentary, since 1997's Titanic dominated the box office charts.

A sequel to the 1993 hit comedy Mrs. Doubtfire is in the works at 'Fox
2000'. Robin Williams is in talks to reprise the role of Daniel Hillard/Mrs.
Doubtfire and resume producing duties with Marsha Williams, says 'The
Hollywood Reporter'. Bonnie Hunt is also in talks to write the film.
The original, directed by Chris Columbus (Harry Potter), earned $219.2
million domestically and $222 million overseas for a massive worldwide total
of $441.2 million, or the 53rd highest-grossing film ever.
Mrs. Doubtfire received two Golden Globe awards in 1994, one for best
picture (comedy/musical) and one for Williams as best actor in a
comedy/musical. The film also won an Oscar for best makeup.
V FOR VENDETTA
Director James McTeigue is set to helm the adaptation of Alan Moore's
graphic novel, about a freedom-fighter in a parallel universe where a future
Britain is governed by a fascist state.
McTeigue's only prior experience is as the First Assistant Director to the
Wachowski Brothers on The Matrix trilogy and for Star Wars Episode II and
III. This will be his directorial debut.
HARRY POTTER & THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX
British director David Yates will helm Harry Potter & The Order Of The
Phoenix for Warner Brothers.
Michael Goldenberg will take over screenwriting duties from Steve Kloves,
who has penned the first four movies.
In the fifth book, Harry Potter is faced with the unreliability of the very
government of the magical world and the impotence of the authorities at
Hogwarts. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, he finds depth and
strength in his friends, beyond what even he knew; boundless loyalty; and
unbearable sacrifice.
The movie is scheduled to start production in late-2005 for summer 2007.
