MOVIE NEWS

SUPERMAN RETURNS

The first photos of Brandon Routh, as Clarke Kent, has been snapped by a fan watching the new movie film. (see right and down the side).

Wow, Routh looks a dead ringer for Christopher Reeve in that pic, which is a great thing! A pic of Kate Boswell can be seen as Lois Lane has also been released (see below-right)

DIE HARD 4.0

In an interview at 'AlloCiné.com', director Florent Siri (Hostage) says that he has been asked by Bruce Willis to direct Die Hard 4.0.

Hostage screenwriter Doug Richardson is currently rewriting a script by Mark Bomback, who redrafted Die Hard 4 from an existing script called WorldWar3.com.

Cover In the article, Siri says that he hasn't read the Die Hard 4 script yet and is waiting to read it before giving his response. He also adds that he doesn't only want to make action movies, so it will be interesting to see whether or not he takes on another actioner so soon.

SAHARA II

Matthew McConaughey has told 'USA Today' that he'd like to continue the franchise based on Clive Cussler's series of bestselling books starring maritime adventurer Dirk Pitt.

McConaughey: "I'd been looking for that renaissance guy. Everything I'd read that was a possible franchise character in the action-adventure genre was either too roadhouse, just fighting and running around, or they were too prim and proper, never getting their hands dirty."

Cover "[Dirk Pitt is] a senator's son, but a scavenger of the deep. He can talk marine biology with you at noon and then at one o'clock be dealing gold bullion with smugglers and pirates."

However, is McConaughey wants to return as Pitt, he's better get author Clive Cussler onside. Cussler went along with plans to film Sahara, but tried to block the movie's production when he became unhappy with storyline changes in the screenplay. Previously, Cussler's novel Raise The Titanic was turned into a turgid movie, so the author is already particularly suspicious of book-to-movie adaptations...

STAR WARS EPISODE III

George Lucas has spoken about his hopes for the final Star Wars movie, saying: "A lot of my life has been wrapped up in this one thing. I can walk away from this now 'cause I feel it's the best I could do... this is the film that people want to see.'"

THE X-FILES 2

The 'Associated Press' ran an article with X-Files star David Duchovny, who revealed that a second X-Files movie is in the works:

AP: What's going on with another X-Files movie?
Duchovny: I talked to [X-Files creator] Chris Carter last week, and he said all systems go for next winter, early 2006.

Cover AP: Do you know the story?
Duchovny: I do, but I wouldn't want to give it away. There's no script, so I haven't read a script. But Chris has told me some of the story, and it sounds good to me.

X-MEN 3

Apparently, Vinnie Jones is likely to win the role of Juggernaut in X-Men 3, no doubt partly due to his affinity with the director, Matthew Vaughn, who produced Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels.

A source said: "Vinnie thinks it's a great laugh and can't wait to get into the suit."
