  • Christmas must be just around the corner now that it's time for another TV-cash-in for Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, this being the second game in the series with another 1000 questions to be asked and pondered over.

The main differences this time round are that Chris Tarrant himself reads out all the questions and the possible answers, although you can skip the audio if you want to speed things up. Also, you can see the audience, even if they're as static as cardboard and don't cough when the right answers appear...

Like last time, Tarrant stretches things out to longer than they need be, such as the camera pulling back to reveal two empty chairs and those watching, just to show how many questions you are away from the million. Why can't a button press skip this as it becomes as much a pain as the "opening door" sequence in all the Resident Evil games which never goes away.

Again, it's a pointless experience. You won't win any real money, but this time you can walk away at any part in the game, although that's an unnecessary feature too and Tarrant's delaying doesn't make you want to play the game more and more, but just irritates you.

The "Phone-a-friend"s still pretend to sound surprised, even though in real life this is organised in advance by a researcher on the programme.

This Xmas, stick with The Weakest Link which is the new "Millionaire" and is still seeming a lot fresher than its ITV counterpart.
