      Michaela Strachan

Michaela Strachan is the bubbly blonde who first appeared on our TV screens nearly 20 years ago on WACaday, a spin-off from the Wide Awake Club, founded by the irrepressible Timmy Mallett and his not-so-good mate and co-presenter Tommy Boyd, now a phone-in presenter on TalkSport.

Michaela spent the late 80s as the other half of The Hit Man And Her with music mogul Pete Waterman and has since gone on to do a number of animal-related programmes, but this DVD concentrates on being Wild About Baby Animals.

Filmed at Longleat Safari Park, she checks out the giraffes, mountain lions, foxes, racoons, deer, skunks, owls, polar bears, seals, prairie dogs and even regular lions. When she's not talking and the non-humans are on film, they take on a Johnny Morris-like stance, talking to each other in dodgy accents.

This is primarily for kids, but older kids that are heading for 30, or even older in some cases, can buy it for the nostalgia value of putting Michaela Strachan back on your box.

The picture quality is fine most of the time, although not all of the animal footage is perfect and it's in fullscreen. The average bitrate is 6.9Mb/s. The sound is in vanilla stereo and comes across without a hitch.

Sadly there are no extras, no subtitles and the menus are as silent as Timmy Mallet's TV career.
