Ok, if you love DBZ or GT (Dragonball Z or Dragonball GT to those who don't do
the whole Dragonball thing) then obviously you'll love this. This game is
absolutely brilliant - for those who have played many other Dragonball games,
they usually involve spectacular fighting but thats it; not with this game
though!
It's a Pokemon-style wander-around adventure game thingie where you have
objectives to complete, people to talk to, little enemies to fight, bosses to
fight, things to pick up and take places, people to rescue - it goes on and on.
I was so amazed by this game, I stole it from my husband and have just
returned it to him today after finishing it before he even got to play - haaaa!
You begin playing as gohan (Goku's son) and have to run round fighting to get
your level up and find more members of your team (Goku, Picollo, Trunks and
Vegeeta) who obviously have to save the earth from the evil clutches of the bad
guys.
The game runs pretty much with the cell and android sagas from the TV
show. Dr Gero (former leader of the red ribbon army) has created some nasty
androids who will eventually take over the earth. Trunks (who isn't born yet)
comes from the future to warn his friends (they will be his friends and family
when he is born) about the dangers that are to befall the earth as everyone but
him is killed in his future. So the people on earth (I can't call them
earthlings because only Tien, Krillin, Yamcha, Chichi and Bulma are earthlings and
you don't play as any of them!) start training and the 5 heros you get to play as
have to fight the androids then cell - another evil creation from Dr Gero who
tries to take over too.
Loads of things to pick up, loads of peoples problems to solve, running about
like a mad thing, enemies of various difficulties so theres always somewhere
you can hang around and get your characters levels up. The graphics are
amazing and you even get a whole host of moves (ok well 5) for each character -
Picollo gets his beam cannon and obviously Goku gets his fantasatic kamehameha
wave blast thingie. The final aim is to beat cell in the cell games to return
the safety of the earth - can you do it? (I can, ha!)
Controls are so easy - run about with your D-pad, hit with A and superpower
with B. Pretty hard to get lost (i never used a cheat book once!). Graphically,
its a masterpiece - little dudes dressed up as Dragonball characters - Wow!
everything is amazing - oh and did i mention, its amazing!
Although I love all things Dragonball there is one thing that lets this game
down - to get our characters up levels it involves fighting enemies - but to
get to some places or be strong enough to beat some bosses your characters
have to be on stupid levels which means a lot of fighting littler enemies for no
reason for long periods of time which bored me a bit - but that said it's still
great!
