Forty six minutes and 17 seconds of club beats as the BPMs (Beats Per Minute) go ballistic.
It's not usually my bag, but this is one the better
dance albums around by UK songwriters Daz and Paul (a policeman by day).
They work independently - Paul in Scotland and Daz in Manchester - the guys
file share using MSN Messenger.
Following on from the phenomenal success
of the re-working of the Daryl Hall and John Oates' 1984 classic Out Of
Touch earlier this year, Uniting Nations throw their hat into the album
ring. On a Sunny day in the Asda car park in Wrexham, I heard the single
blaring out of a car - and thought - brilliant mix, and bought the single.
Now comes more dance orientated exploits. It's not art - but it's highly
infectious. The first two are express Euro blasts, though She's Special is
more in the slick disco - mode, rather than out-and out-dance, featuring a
brilliant soul-vocal by Donovan Blackwood. Remaining tracks are sung by
Jinian Wilde. The extended Out Of Touch, by club DJ demand, is worth the
wait even if it's 7 minutes 40 seconds.
From 13 to 19 there's DJ Tools, vocal and instrument intro, samples enabling
bedroom DJ's to remix Uniting Nations with ease.
