Despite the slightly confusing title, this bumper 40-tracker is excellent value for money.
Adding big guns like Diana Ross' Upside Down, Michael
Jackson's Off The Wall, Womack and Womack's Teardrops, Cameo's
Word Up confuses matters, nevertheless, they definitely give it kudos. Those singles
are disco rather than R&B, which is something that still irritates me, as
none of them are genuine R&B. It actually stands for Rhythm and Blues and
none of these are.
Anyway, this collection is probably more like music of
black origin - yes, OK, contains contemporary R&B - spanning 20 years of
some of the best pop songs around.
They make great car CD, or for smooching and dancing at parties,
particularly George Michael and Aretha Franklin's I Knew You Were Waiting
For Me, Beyonce's Crazy In Love, Outkast's thumping 2004 hit Hey Ya, along
with Chaka Khan's anthemic I Feel For You.
Best slowies include Unbreak My Heart,Dreams and I Try by the amazing Macy Gray.Top track of the lot is
Alicia Keys' award winning Fallin'. Health warning - contains some
rapping!
