Elly Roberts reviews

Single releases: w/c Feb 26th 2007

Rose Hill Drive: Showdown

Rose Hill Drive: Showdown (Megaforce Records Inc - distributed by Pinnacle)

America has spawned many great rock bands – here’s another.

Hot as hell Colorado rock trio Rose Hill Drive – brothers Jake (vox/bass) and Daniel Sproul (vox/guitars) and Nathan Barnes (drums) come close to matching legends Led Zeppelin for power and energy.

This awesome blast is right out of Zep’s repertoire, but brought right up to date for the 21st century.

The CD contains three versions – studio, live and demo.

All three formats prove this band is right on top of its game. In rank order, I prefer the demo, live then studio version.

The latter, opens with a sticks countdown that leads into a monumental riff and raucous vocal by Jake Sproul. As it moves along it builds into a belting crescendo with soaring axework by bro Daniel, drops, and rises again with the outfit if full flight.

Awesome stuff.

This band has shared the stage with The Who, Queens Of The Stone Age and Eddie Van Halen.
