MIKE NICHOLS' ACADEMY AWARDž WINNING MASTERPIECE ARRIVES ON DVD

'The Graduate', the film which launched the career of Hollywood luminary, Dustin Hoffman, will be released as a special edition DVD from 26th March 2001, RRP £17.99.

The film, hailed as one of the most influential films in movie history, won Nichols an Academy Awardž for Best Director as well as an Oscarž nomination (Best Actor) and a BAFTAž (Best Newcomer) for Hoffman.

Released by Momentum Pictures Home Entertainment (MPHE), 'The Graduate' marks the third release from MPHE's 'Director's Chair Collection'- a catalogue of movie masterpieces released for the first time on DVD.

For 'The Graduate' DVD release, MPHE have put together a special documentary, 'The Graduate at 25'; the feature provides a unique insight into the making of the film, the director's influences and inspirations. In addition, the DVD also boasts original theatrical trailers, a fascinating one-on-one interview with Dustin Hoffman and a photo gallery of unseen images shot during the film's production.

As with all releases from the 'Director's Chair Collection', 'The Graduate' DVD will be accompanied by a limited edition book featuring details about the film and it's direction. The book will also include a collection of articles and reviews from the original theatrical release.

'The Graduate' is a classic tale of twisted love and lost youth supported by a classic soundtrack from legendary 60's pop duo 'Simon and Garfunkel'. The film follows the romantic antics of Benjamin Braddock (Dustin Hoffman) and seductress Mrs Robinson (Anne Bancroft) and sees Hoffman as a young college graduate who embarks on affairs with both the wife and daughter of his father's business partner.

The widely acclaimed film has recently been translated into a hit West End theatre production with stars such as Kathleen Turner, Jerry Hall and from February 12th 2001, Amanda Donohoe taking on the role of Mrs Robinson.

'The Graduate' will be released to buy on 26 March 2001, RRP £17.99 and will be available from all good home entertainment stockists. The movie carries a 15 certificate.

'Director's Chair Collection' releases for 2001 include: Alan Parker's 'Angel Heart' (available to buy now), Alex Cox's 'Sid and Nancy' (available now), Francis Ford Coppolla's 'The Cotton Club', Adrian Lynne's 'Jacob's Ladder', Richard Attenborough's 'Chaplin', David Lynch's 'The Elephant Man', Martin Scorsese's 'King of Comedy', Oliver Stone's 'The Doors', Mel Brooks' 'The Producers', Rob Reiner's 'The Sure Thing' and Michael Mann's 'Manhunter'.
