Commandos 2 is the sequel to the hugely successful, award-winning
Commandos: Behind Enemy Lines,
which was released on PC CD-ROM in June 1998 and has since sold over 1 million
copies worldwide. Developed by Pyro Studios, the game will be available on
PlayStation 2 (£39.99) and Xbox (£44.99) on September 6th.
Commandos 2 will immerse you in a tactical action strategy game set against
the backdrop of World War II. You take control of an elite group of Commandos
who must venture deep into enemy territory to complete a series of mission
based objectives. The game incorporates several new features and utilises a
completely new 3D game engine, enabling indoor and outdoor locations as well
as the ability to rotate the environment. These additions create a huge new
playing field and total freedom to explore as no corner is out of reach.
Commandos 2 features nine playable characters each armed with unique skills
to help you defeat the enemy. Will you choose Natasha, the sexy seductress,
Lupin the thief with his lock picking and stealth skills or even Whiskey the
dog skilled in tasks a soldier would not be able to do? Select your team and
embark on your mission but beware, enemy soldiers are smarter and more varied
than ever and they will hear and see your every move!
The console version of Commandos 2 features a completely revised control
system. Pyro has dispensed with the 'point & click' control system of the PC
version and replaced it with a system whereby you have direct control over
your characters. As a result the gameplay is more immediate and fast-paced.
Take your Commandos to new geographical environments including Asia, the
Arctic and North America as well as Europe. The game features several
real-life locations including the Eiffel tower, the infamous Colditz prison
and the Taiho aircraft carrier. You will drive new vehicles and fire new
weapons. The gameplay is faster, more realistic and more action packed than
ever before.
Features:
Completely new 3D game engine enabling rotatable environments and playable interiors.
Commandos now share abilities, however each individual enjoys an unequalled skill.
Control nine commandos - including the Green Beret, sniper, demolitions expert, seductress, thief and even 'whiskey' the dog!
Team members can now carry and exchange objects and weapons.
Drive a variety of new vehicles, including jeeps, tanks, trucks, ships, boats and cars. All of the vehicles are based on real models from WWII: a "Willys" jeep, a "Panzer III" tank, a "Mercedes L3000" truck to name a few.
New enemy AI behaviour that provides deeper and more engaging gameplay.
More Action! Faster paced gameplay, but still requiring careful planning and execution of every mission.
