Rock Rivals: Complete Series 1 on DVD

Distributed by
Universal Pictures

Posted: April 25th, 2008.

PICK OF THE DAY… ..fabulous and absurd in equal measure… Amazing stuff ***** Heat

Rock Rivals, the glossy and bitchy television series based on a TV talent show starring Michelle Collins (Dr Who, Two Thousand Acres of Sky, Eastenders) and Sean Gallagher (Coronation Street, New Street Law) as the warring married judges will burst its way onto DVD on 28 April 2008 from Universal Pictures.

Mirroring the unique interactive nature of the television series, which will allow viewers to vote for the final winning contestant, the 3-disc Rock Rivals DVD features 9 episodes and will include two alternate endings enabling the viewer to decide on their very own winner, plus a host of great extras including Making the Music, The Producer’s Tale, Choosing the Winner, The Actor’s Tale, The Contestant’s Tale, and My Favourite Scene.

PICK OF THE DAY: ‘Must-see TV. This show within a show which blends drama and reality TV…’ - Mail on Sunday Live Magazine

The series, which has the emotional charge of X Factor meets Footballer’s Wives, sees Karina (Michelle Collins) and Mal Faith (Sean Gallagher) go to war as the bickering judges on the phenomenally successful television series ‘Rock Rivals’. When Mal’s affair with an assistant becomes public knowledge, all hell breaks loose and their marriage spectacularly and very publicly implodes. Karina and Mal’s tangled web is made even more complicated by their various assistants – Pete Shepherd (James Anderson) who works with Mal as an A&R man and Associate Producer, Sundae Gorgeous (Nicola Hughes) who is the contestants’ vocal coach, and Jinx Jones (Sophia Dawnay) who is hired by Mal as an executive assistant but is more obsessed with pursuing Mal and destroying his marriage.

‘Footballer’s Wives meets The X Factor plus Michelle Collins = top telly times a million’ ***** More

Rock Rivals not only follows the Faiths as their vicious divorce descends into all out war, but charts the highs and lows of the contestants involved. With a strong supporting cast of young actors playing the contestants – Sol Heras as Luke Ellis, Holly Quin-Ankrah as Bethany Hopkins, Sammy Glenn as Dana Bigglesworth, Lisa Dwan as Angel Islington, Helen Modern as Sasha Reed, Marcus O Donovan as Jez Willard and Robert Sheehan, Siva Kaneswaran, Kumar Kaneswaran and Shane McDaid as the group Fade Up, Rock Rivals also stars Alison Newman as Lynette Hopkins, the pushy mum, Adam Leese as Felix McGowan, the stalker, Gary Cooke as Vernon Fentor as the third judge.

PICK OF THE DAY…. ‘glossy drama’ - The Independent

Rock Rivals is produced by Shed Productions and is executive produced by Brian Park (Footballer’s Wives, Bad Girls), produced by Emma Turner (New Tricks, Holby City) and is directed by Syd McCartney (New Tricks, Jane Hall), Farren Blackburn (Waterloo Road, Doctors, Ian Bevitt (The Chase, The Royal) and James Erskine (Robin Hood, Torchwood)
