A classic Bob Marley album re-released on CD+DVD...
30 years after its initial release, the Bob Marley classic album Exodus
is out again, with 10 reggae classics.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
remembers it well, and a package is also available with a 12-track bonus DVD.
Stuck for something to do this weekend? The list of the films showing at
Manchester Showcase Cinema
can be found on this page, and won't differ much from what's on in the rest
of the country.
The new films out include: This Christmas, Fred Claus, Rescue Dawn and Hitman.
A classic arcade game from the 1980s has surfaced on the Nintendo Wii and
Sony PSP. Today, we take a look at the latter version. Does it retain as
much fun on a handheld as it did in the arcade, or would it be better off
slithering into the ether like the baddies as you blast them into next week?
40 years ago, Jimi Hendrix was not a household name, but, as
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
explains, it took just 45 minutes for one man to overwhelm 50,000 music fans
and turn the world of music upside down...
Kristina Harvey sings live at The Grey Lady, Tunbridge Wells...
Gorgeous chanteuse Kristina Harvey continues her tour of London with a gig
at The Grey Lady at 70-72 The Pantiles in her home town of Tunbridge Wells,
tomorrow night at 8pm. If you're in the area and want to check out some great
music then head along.
If you can't make it, then click on Kristina's picture (right) to visit her MySpace page and listen to some great new tracks,
including the soft-paced and engaging tracks It's Over and You Oughta Know,
plus the ballad Say the Word which wouldn't sound out of place on any
classic collection of songs about love. Outstanding stuff!
Her first release, Unresolved, is out now on iTunes and her forthcoming album Maybe you know (Or maybe you don't) will be out very soon.
Jade, Sasha, Cloe and Yasmin are the four girls starting out at Carry Nation
High School and the only thing that stands between them and popularity is
the school student body presdient and daughter of the principal, Meredith,
in a film that's fun for children and adults alike.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
has covered the appearances and live concerts from Mick Hucknall and the band
this year, and now it's the turn of their latest live DVD, containing 21 tracks
from the Royal Albert Hall, and there's also links to a recent GMTV interview
with Mick Hucknall and Simply Red performing The World and You Tonight.
Appearing on This Morning recently to promote his new live DVD, Fame, Ricky
Gervais talks about The Office, Extras, and goes off-script many times in this
excellent 3-part interview.
Also uploaded recently are interviews on Breakfast, GMTV, Loose Women and This Morning with
Cleo Rocos, Paul Michael Glaser, Jason Donovan, Dan Castellaneta (aka Homer Simpson),
Jessica Stevenson, Duran Duran, Geoffrey Rush, John Barrowman, Alesha Dixon,
Jason Schwartzman and Adrien Brody.
Also, there's a stupid man shouting at bears in California, Hannah Sandling and
Jill Kenton talk about big pants, The Wright Stuff comment on ginger bullies,
Anthony H Wilson wins the Regional TV Presenter award and there's an engaging
argument about immigration between Caroline Flint from Labour and the Tories'
Chris Grayling which almost ends in a controlled fight!
Led Zeppelin are back and remain the same on CD and DVD...
Following on from
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts'
review of their Mothership collection on Monday, he takes a look at
this double-CD package which has also spawned a number of DVD formats, all
ahead of their O2 Arena gig in London on December 8th.
Stuck for something to do this weekend? The list of the films showing at
Manchester Showcase Cinema
can be found on this page, and won't differ much from what's on in the rest
of the country.
The new films out include: Shrooms, August Rush, Brick Lane, Into the Wild and Wristcutters: A Love Story.
This band comprise of five young Londoners who, according to
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts,
are about to shake up the music scene with 11 tracks on this new album,
which he indulged in after hearing one of them on Ken Bruce's Radio 2 show.
The London Film Festival 2007 has now drawn to a close and
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Helen M Jerome
has her pick of the hits and hot new actors and directors, plus her Oscar tips
for next year, her must-sees from the whole festival and now, for something
different, three documentaries to change the way you think about health...
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
is enthusastiac about this new bound from Oswestry in Shropshire, the same
home town as a good mate of mine from University, and as Elly confirms
they've already garnered a considerable fan-base in the area with their mix
of Indie, Rock and Pop-Punk. Find out why in the review...
MP Caroline Flint on The Wright Stuff today and on DVDfever's Youtube channel...
Caroline Flint (Employment Minister) and Chris Grayling (Shadow Department for Work and Pensions Minister)
argue entertainingly about whether Labour lied about the number of immigrant workers in the UK.
It's so funny to see the tension between the two, particularly towards the end as no-one works out why there's
reportedly 1.5 million immigrant workers in the country, but there's certainly something about La Flint...
Oh, and she's also the guest of honour on The Wright Stuff at 9am on Five (and on Five Life for the 11am repeat).
Last week we looked at PGR4, and this week an arcade racer that dispenses
with the technicalities of your car and just puts you bang in the driving
seat and let's get this road on the show...
You know Sega Rally and this is a great piece of fun, so click on the
review, buy the game and stick it in your Xbox 360!
The Monsters of Rock are back: Led Zeppelin on CD/DVD...
A double-CD package with an optional DVD is out as Led Zeppelin get set to play
the O2 Arena in London on December 8th, and
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
has always been a massive fan of the band as he confirms here.
"Calamity Clegg": Battle of the Nobodies on DVDfever's Youtube channel...
It's amusing enough to see such a big hoo-hah about the battle for the Lib Dem Leadership, but it really is the Battle of the Nobodies.
This clip shows the contenders, Chris Huhne and Nick Clegg, on the Politics Show putting forth their policies,
but at least it makes them feel important for five minutes, particularly the former whose office let slip the
term "Calamity Clegg"!
And it's clear that neither of them have got a clue when it comes to ID Cards...
I started this piece from when the "Calamity Clegg" issue was first put to Huhne, and then he just rambled away
for most of the next 10 minutes.
Also uploaded recently are interviews on Breakfast, GMTV, Loose Women and This Morning with Jack Dee, Neighbours'
stars Stefan Dennis (Paul Robinson), Ryan Moloney (Toadie), Ian Smith (Harold Bishop) and Tom oliver (Lou Carpenter),
Ben Miller, Shilpa Shetty, Paul Merton, Ben Elton, Richard E. Grant, Roger Cook and Patrick Kielty.
Add to this, some Wright Stuff pieces about the Nanny State, the Worst Jobs Ever and criticising Heather Mills
a Working Lunch piece where the live link breaks down, a Politics Show clip of Gordon Brown's fake smile
and numerous pieces with Penny Smith commenting on ghosts at a petrol station, Hugh Grant being grumpy about a
painting, a fat hedgehog going on a diet and how Penny exercises lying down.
There's also several amusing Channel 4 On Demand trailers, a few Something for the Weekend gadget clips, a clip
of the high-voltage danger dog on Dear Green Place, a man complaining to Feedback about his wife and how he
can't wish her Happy Birthday, and the obligatory clips of Myleene Klass talking about I'm A Celebrity, Get
Me Out Of Here".
And for the many thousands who loved the Breakfast piece from last year about
the game 'Bully', and really not liking what that woman in the pink jacket
had to say about it - because she criticised the game without playing it -
well, she's back, and she's got even more mad things to say...
Following the previously reviewed CDs of Putuyamo's music from Brazil and New
Orleans, today
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
brings you a selection of hits from all around the world including classics
such as Johnny Clegg & Savuka's Scatterlings of Africa, Jimmy Cliff's
The Harder They Come, Kaoma's Lambada and 7 Seconds by
Youssou N'Dour and Neneh Cherry.
The release dates for singles go up until mid-January
with albums also until January 2008.
The mad woman in the pink jacket is back on DVDfever's Youtube channel...
With lots more uploaded recently, one of the highlights comes in the form
of one of last year's sort-of favourites, Michelle Elliott, director of Kidscape
who made some totally daft comments about how violent computer games were,
such as the PS2 game "Bully" when she'd clearly never played it.
This time, she's back spouting more rubbish, basically claiming that anyone
with a webcam is a paedophile... Oh dear.
Project Gotham Racing 4 screams onto the Xbox 360...
Much Kudos to the makers of this game as the class continues with this latest
installment, taking you around Asia, North America and many other locations
including my favourite, St Petersburg.
Everything you expect comes in this game from fantastic visuals down to
the precise handling of the cars and motorbikes, and remember that this
isn't a rally title so you will have to pay attention as you zoom down
that road.
Life's a drag for Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie on DVD...
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Natasha Ross
returns with a catalogue re-release for this classic movie, now making
its 25th anniversary, starring Dustin Hoffman as he goes to extreme lengths
to get the success in his acting career that he's always wanted.
Ali Campbell goes back to his reggae roots on CD...
The voice behind UB40 has released a new solo album, which features
collaborations with Mick Hucknall, Beverley Knight, Lemar and Smokey Robinson
to name but a few, on this 14-track album,
brought to you by
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts.
Trinny & Susannah grope some breasts on DVDfever's Youtube channel...
With more videos still to come, the highlight of the latest lot uploaded
so far, apart from a return to GMTV's sofa last Thursday for Heather Mills,
is a scene from last Monday's This Morning, where Trinny and Susannah featured,
helping women with their bra sizes, this one seeing them grope a poor woman's
breasts for all they were worth and Fern Britton made a great off-the-cuff
comment about her "lovely little mound"...
Also uploaded recently are interviews on Breakfast, GMTV, Loose Women and
This Morning with George Takei, The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain,
Duran Duran, Rob Brydon, Ralf Little, Myleene Klass, Russell Crowe, Jessica
Stevenson, Chaka Khan, Jenny Eclair, Martin Clunes, Russell Crowe, Craig
McLachlan, Mick Hucknall, Julian Clary, Robert Bathurst, and my favourite,
Miss Piggy.
There's also lots of little clips uploaded, such as adverts with Stephen
Fry and Paddington Bear, several pieces from Working Lunch, and most of
the new stuff features GMTV hottie Penny Smith doing what she does
best ;)
And for the many thousands who loved the Breakfast piece from last year about
the game 'Bully', and really not liking what that woman in the pink jacket
had to say about it - because she criticised the game without playing it -
well, she's back, and she's got even more mad things to say...
Stuck for something to do this weekend? The list of the films showing at
Manchester Showcase Cinema
can be found on this page, and won't differ much from what's on in the rest
of the country.
The new films out include: Bug, Lions For Lambs, Air Guitar Nation, Saawariya and Good Luck Chuck.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
describes this country chanteuse as "dripping in class" with "effortless singing"
and so this new album comes highly recommended...
Manufacturing Dissent: Michael Moore - The Truth? on DVD...
Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore, who brought us films such as Bowling
for Columbine, Fahrenheit 9/11 and the forthcoming Sicko, gets a
lot of stick, and especially so from the makers of this piece who try to
uncover what they feel is the truth behind his lies. Will you agree?
The voice behind Sing It Back and The Time Is Now is back with
a new album, Overpowered, which was preceeded by the single, Let Me
Know, for which she put in a spellbinding performance on Jonathan Ross'
show a few weeks back, and this is brought to you by
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts.
Heather Mills has a meltdown on DVDfever's Youtube channel...
Still in the process of catching up on Youtube clips, this week we have the
GMTV Meltdown for Heather Mills as the main item, with much more to come
so keep checking frequently, plus a few short clips: Patrick Kielty on Something
for the Weekend, Working Lunch talking about how more women should play computer
games, the Post Office advert with John Henshaw and Joan Collins, Stephen Fry's
new Twinings advert and a ridiculous 'onscreen next' for QI...
Stuck for something to do this weekend? The list of the films showing at
Manchester Showcase Cinema
can be found on this page, and won't differ much from what's on in the rest
of the country.
The new films out include: Brothers Solomon, 30 Days of Night, The Lookout, Man of the Year, Death at a Funeral and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
Last Sunday,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer, Elly Roberts
went to see folk rock legend Davy Graham live in concert in Liverpool, and
greatly enjoyed some of the music, but the problem was that there wasn't enough
of it...
