Music nostalgia with Jason's Jukebox at DVDfever.co.uk...
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Jason Maloney
returns with his new regular column charting the hits from way back when and
giving everyone a nostalgia trip back to when music meant something.
This week we return to the week ending October 27th 1984 and
there's music from The Human League, Culture Club, Midge Ure & Ultravox
and ZZ Top.
Stuck for something to do this weekend? The list of the films showing at
Manchester Showcase Cinema
can be found on this page, and won't differ much from what's on in the rest
of the country.
The new films released this week include: Exorcist: The Beginning, Saved, Finding Neverland, Little Black Book, House of the Dead
and reviews of Harry Potter & The Prisoner of Azkaban
and the new DVD release Battle Royale II: Requiem.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen returns with his
regular movie news section which looks at future releases and features US and UK
top 10 cinema listings, UK release dates, websites and trailers.
Just think - if he'd given it all up after the flop that was South of
the Border, or hadn't had a hit with Angels, we'd never have heard
from him again... but something changed.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
listens to his hits and works out just what it is that's made him the
pop star he is today.
They're one of my favourite bands of all time, and I've seen them at the
Birmingham NEC in 1989 to the backdrops of Derek Jarman, and in 1999 at
the Manchester MEN Arena with a less flamboyant show.
Today,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
takes a look at their 1991 Performance including a number of tracks
from their classic 1990 album, Behaviour.

Status Quo on CD: 40 years old next year, seriously...
In the beginning was the word, and the word was 'Quo' - Status Quo, that is.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
looks back on 40 tracks from a group that also turn 40 next year and deserve
the legend title they've amassed over the years with this new greatest hits
package on 2-disc CD, a DVD and also a new autobiography.
The studio version of this movie was one I quite enjoyed, but not quite
what the director and crew wanted. After 2001's re-cut "Renegade Version",
this one expands on that with improved special FX all over, showing to
the likes of George Lucas that you really can improve on an original.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
starts a new occasional feature today, which will be updated as and when
new titles are available, and announced accordingly. The first page will take
you to this week's reviews, but more are linked from that page.

Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet have an unconventional relationship on DVD...
Released today:
Jim Carrey & Kate Winslet head a surprisingly well-known cast in
a film that's only destined to make sense if you invest the time and effort,

strange things indeed...
He may not be well-known, but this prolific singer/songwriter has been
in Ace, Squeeze, Mike & The Mechanics and collaborated with countless
famous musicians in the writing and playing departments. Here, he plays a
number of his best known tunes and
