September 30th : What's so special about Manhunter this time on DVD...? Released tomorrow: It was first released on DVD in the UK in 1999 with a non-anamorphic transfer and scant extras, so what's changed? William Petersen and Brian Cox star. Manhunter: Special Edition is online and out on DVD from tomorrow.

September 29th : Reggie Kray has the final word on DVD... Released on Monday: Everyone's heard of the Krays. Not everyone got on the wrong side of them, but the ones who did paid the price because they were a couple of psychotic nutters. The Krays: The Final Word is online and out on DVD from Monday.

The Krays on film on DVD... And for good measure, here's another chance to read the review of the feature film starring the Kemp brothers from Spandau Ballet, with Martin now appearing as a major character in Eastenders. The Krays is online and out on DVD now.

The Ultimate Dreamcast Pack for a penny under 100 quid... Sega's answer to the PS2 price cut is to release the remaining Dreamcast consoles under the header The Ultimate Dreamcast Pack. £99.99 will get you a worthy package of the Dreamcast itself, Virtua Fighter 3, MSR, Jet Set Radio and a VMU to save your games on. The pack will be on sale from today at EB, Toys R Us and HMV. Dreamcast games still to look forward to in October and November include: 90 Minutes, Headhunter, Floigan Brothers, Virtua Tennis 2 and Shenmue 2. A review of Jet Set Radio is online now.

September 28th : What Lies Beneath? Find out on DVD... The box claims that it's a suspenseful thriller, but is it? Yes, for a change here's a Hollywood thriller that actually does what it says on the tin with some clever camerawork from director Robert Zemeckis and excellent holographic packaging. What Lies Beneath is online and out on DVD now.

PS2 price cut by 100 quid...! Yes, the rumours are true. The Playstation 2 has had its price slashed by 100 quid to a mere £199.99, or for those wanting to take home a copy of Gran Turismo 3, that boxset is now £219.99. Of course, the reason behind the price drop is the impending release of the Gamecube and Xbox in the US in a couple of months and their release over here next spring. I never thought we'd see a price drop like this here until closer to Xmas, but with fantastic games around like Gran Turismo 3, SSX and Extreme G3 Racing, it's a must-buy at this price. Playstation 2 is online and out now.

September 27th : The ultimate student favourite: Rainbow on DVD... Up above the streets and houses, everyone's smiling now that seven episodes of their favourite kids TV show is available on DVD for a tenner with Geoffrey, Bungle, George and Zippy. Rainbow: Zippy Sets Them Up! is online and out on DVD now.

September 26th : We're glad it's all over - Jaws: The Revenge on DVD... And now, the end is near. And many people were glad when this series went out with both a bang AND a whimper. A whimper because it was utter junk and a bang because of the terrible way in which the shark is killed off. Jaws: The Revenge is online and out on DVD now.

September 25th : To 3D or not to 3D: Jaws 3 on DVD... Released in 1983, it was an attempt to make a film in 3D, but what of those who didn't get to see it that way? Dennis Quaid takes the lead role alongside Louis Gossett Jr. For the second of three days, we look at another Jaws sequel. Jaws 3 is online and out on DVD now.

September 21st : Julia goes Sleeping with the Enemy on DVD... It's one of those "psychological thrillers" that's anything but - just a doomed relationship gone even more wrong than normal, but it gives Julia Roberts a chance to make a name for herself again. September 20th : A wartime romance comes Shining Through on DVD... Be careful next time you have an affair with your secretary as she might just turn out to end up working as your spy infiltrating Nazi Germany. Michael Douglas and Melanie Griffith star in an improbable but entertaining film. Shining Through is online and out on DVD now.

September 18th : Chorlton wheels 'em out a third time on DVD... It's the third and final series that's now available on DVD, but Fenella's still got a few tricks up her sleeve to rid the world of happiness. Chorlton and the Wheelies Series 3 is online and out on DVD now.

September 17th : 30 Years of The Old Grey Whistle Test on DVD... Released today: Cast your mind back three decades when clothing styles were radically different and new musical discoveries were made by the likes of Andy Kershaw, Anne Nightingale and "Whispering" Bob Harris. Then take 45 classic performances, a selection of archive interviews and place them on a double-disc DVD. Also from tonight is the first of five programmes celebrating the series featuring archive clips, much like this DVD. The Old Grey Whistle Test is online and out on DVD now.

Henry deserves a second chance on DVD... Ok, so I only placed this online yesterday but I wanted to make it a review of the week so here it comes again. DVD player at the ready and, to quote Henry, "Otis.. plug it in." Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is online and out on DVD now.

Get motorbiking with MX 2002 on the PS2... Released this week: Who's Ricky Carmichael ? I've no idea, but presumably he's a motocross champion as his name comes out on top of all the others also listed within this game. How it fares amongst the other racers out there remains to be seen. MX 2002 featuring Ricky Carmichael is online and out on Playstation 2 now.

Interview with Platoon star Captain Dale Dye... Presented online last Tuesday, this is worthy of another mention at the start of another busy week. At DVDfever.co.uk we like to bring you something a bit different from time to time and this time, courtesy of MGM's press office, yesterday we were lucky enough to interview Captain Dale Dye, of whom I first learned in 1986's classic Oliver Stone Vietnam war drama Platoon and who has also made his mark on Hollywood as technical advisor in scores of movies with a military theme. Not one to invite the vicar round to watch while having high tea on a Sunday afternoon, but a perfect excuse for political incorrectness as we follow a serial killer who has several different ways of murdering people - so not really a defined serial killer then. September 14th : Round and round with a Mario Kart on Gameboy Advance... Released today : One of the most popular game genres of recent years, Mario Kart comes to the GBA with 20 classic SNES tracks and 20 all-new ones, choosing from 8 characters with which to zoom around. September 13th : Strange Days indeed, on DVD... See into the lives of others with a special device that helps you escape reality, but repercussions can follow as Ralph Fiennes finds out. Strange Days is online and out on DVD now.

Mercury Rev up their chances of a hit CD... DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Gary Thorogood lends an ear to the new Mercury Rev album and it certainly goes down well. Mercury Rev: All is Dream is online and out now on CD.

Dangermouse to escape the Tower of Terror on DVD... A review copy has already arrived here, but this DVD which was meant to be released next Monday has been delayed by around three weeks and the title will be changed. Certain events mean that no longer will the title be "The Tower of Terror", showing DM and Penfold running away from a tall building. Personally, I don't like things like this changing, or TV schedules being disrupted by cancelling films just because of an event in the news, as it was not the intention of DM's creators to blow up the World Trade Center, but such is the errand of political correctness.

September 12th : Everyone has their 15 Minutes of fame on DVD... Released this week : Yesterday we saw the shocking and appalling tragedy that was the destruction of the two 110-storey towers at the World Trade Center in New York, the collapse of the next door 47-storey tower block and the attack on the Pentagon. Those terrorists, albeit unknown at the moment, certainly made their bid for their 15 minutes of fame and what unfurled couldn't fit the catchphrase of "Top Story" anchorman Kelsey Grammer any better: "Hard to believe? Watch!" Detective Robert De Niro and arson investigator Edward Burns are on the trail of two foreigners who have their own ideas about what it takes to get noticed on a DVD that not only includes plenty of extras but also a DTS 5.1 soundtrack. 15 Minutes is online and out on DVD now.

September 10th : Extreme G3 "wipes out" the competition on the PS2... Fed up waiting for Wipeout Fusion to reach the Playstation 2 release schedule? It'll probably be another couple of months before we see that one but for now check out this slick and magnificent game that can best be described as "Wipeout on motorbikes". Way of the Gun on DVD... Released today : Yet another DVD we looked at previous, but it was back even longer ago because we saw the rental DVD and understand that the retail one contains the same extras. Way of the Gun is online and out on DVD now.

The Popstars return on DVD... Released today : Placed online yesterday and given another plug today, it's the second installment of the Hear'Say story covering their initial auditions and how they handled their instant fame and discovered their first No.1 single. September 9th : The Popstars return on DVD... Released tomorrow : It's the second installment of the Hear'Say story covering their initial auditions and how they handled their instant fame and discovered their first No.1 single. Popstars Extra is online and out on DVD from tomorrow.

September 8th : Her name is Lola, Frivolous Lola on DVD... It's another Tinto Brass film full of dodgy dubbed dialogue, dodgy acting and dodgy Brit actor Patrick Mower. Frivolous Lola is online and out on DVD now.

New additions to the DVD list... Since the last big update, over 450 titles have been added to the list taking it up to October 1st in the release schedule, with more to be added soon.

DVDfever is No.1 again for September... For some time I have had a link from my site to the DVD Top Sites List, which can be accessed from the logo on the right and I'm leading the charge this month again in the No.1 slot, after the stats were reset at the end of the month. I've achieved 169 votes again in half the time it took last month and that places me almost twice as many votes ahead of the nearest competitor. DVDfever reviewer Dan Owen returns with a review of a film by David Fincher which I still haven't seen myself but had the ending spoiled for me after the same style was apparently used in an episode of Murder in Mind and I found out when someone accidentally spoiled it afterwards. It's another collection of British beauties (or something like that) as they parade in front of the camera (briefly) and talk at length about things you don't really care about. Feel the Strokes on CD... Straight in at No.2 in the album charts and easily beating 5ive, The Strokes look set to do well despite the album lasting a mere 35 minutes! New DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Gary Thorogood lends an ear. The Strokes: Is This It is online and out now on CD.

September 5th : Crazy Taxi rides out on the PS2... A Dreamcast classic, eventually getting a release on the PS2, but how does it fare compared to the original? Crazy Taxi is online and out now on PS2.

September 4th : No-one can be told what this DVD is about... DVDfever reviewer Dan Owen returns with a review of a modern sci-fi classic, for some, as I thought it was nonsense but I'm probably in a minority. The Matrix is online and out now on DVD.

September 3rd : The Simpsons - finally on DVD... Released September 24th : Join Homer, Bart, Marge, Lisa and Maggie for all thirteen episodes of the first season, each containing audio commentaries and extras showing how the series first came about. The Simpsons: Season One is online and out on DVD from September 24th.

Just who are the Men of Honour on DVD...? Released today : It's a rental DVD from Fox which means there are bugger all extras, but it's still worth a look for the film within as Cuba Gooding Jr. fights to become the first African-American man to get to the top of his profession in the US Navy. Men Of Honour is online and out on DVD now.

[.tv] - an undignified end... I reported this after reading about it in The Mirror's excellent technology section, "Kelly's I", written by Matt Kelly (hi, Matt!) [.tv] was one of the best and most informative channels on SkyDigital, but closed at midnight last night on channel 567. Over the past few years from when it began life as the Computer Channel, I've really enjoyed it, particularly Buyer's Guide, Game Over and anything fronted by Kate Russell. Then last night, it just went off air after an episode of Games Chart (probably a repeat like the rest of the past week's output), followed by a few adverts, a [.tv] logo, some music and then.... the SkyDigital blue screen and "There is a technical fault with this channel. Please try later." Oh, if only I could. It's all a bit sad, actually. Visit the [.tv] website while you still can by clicking on the logo above.

September 2nd : The WWF stars start the Backlash on DVD... Released tomorrow: The meatheads are at it again and this is the event from April 2001 held in Chicago, Illinois, with a doff of the cap to three other recent WWF DVDs that have also been released: WWF: Best of Raw Vols 1 & 2, WWF: Wrestlemania X-Seven and WWF: Survivor Series 2000. WWF: Backlash 2001 is online and out tomorrow on DVD.

Freeserve - how unlimited is unlimited...? A few weeks ago Freeserve started cutting people off one by one from their Unlimited service... or at least were planning to. I was meant to go in early August, and then it seemed that we'd all stay on until August 31st, the date in their FAQ online. Since then, though, I've signed up for 4thenet.co.uk's Unlimited 24/7 service which is going okay so far, but have been surprised to find that Freeserve Unlimited is still working, although the phone calls part of it has been cut off as of earlier today. How much longer I wonder...

Football? What football...? Apparently we won a match last night. Yawn! I wonder if Germany had won would we finally realise that we're crap at most sport in the UK and so it would be banned from TV for ever? I can hope.

As of April 2009, Blu-rays and DVDs reviewed by the editor are watched on a Panasonic TH-37PX80B 37" Plasma TV with a Sony BDP-1500 Blu-ray player and played through a Yamaha DSP-AX820 amplifier.
