Danger UXB: The Complete Series (£29.99, Network) is out on DVD now.

civilians have been killed or left homeless. Brian Ash (Anthony Andrews), a young Royal Engineer
Officer, finds himself assigned to a bomb disposal company quickly assembled to combat a
new and dangerous menace - the hundreds of unexploded bombs, which are coming close to paralysing

London's Burning Series 3 (£19.99, Network) is out on July 10th.
Blackwall Fire Station’s Blue Watch takes to the streets again in the highly-popular drama series of the
80s and early 90s. Viewers loved the quirky but human characters that put their lives on the line with
every episode and this set features some of the most fondly remembered, including female fire-fighter
Josie Lawrence, “Bayleaf”, “Sicknote” and “Charisma”. This set features all of series 3.
This is one of television’s best-loved dramas and comes from the same Producer of such classic series
as THE ADVENTURES OF BLACK BEAUTY and ROBIN OF SHERWOOD. This family series will appeal to people who
have enjoyed previous Network releases such as PEAK PRACTICE and SOLDIER, SOLDIER and archive television fans.
Ludwig (£22.99, Infinity Arthouse) is out on DVD now.
Luchino Visconti directs this opulent drama. From his glittering coronation in 1864 as King of Bavaria
to his mysterious death, Ludwig II (1845-86, played by Helmut Berger) epitomised the doomed
nineteenth-century Romantic hero. A loner by nature, he was tormented by his unrequited love for
Empress Elisabeth of Austria, who urged him to put duty before desire and marry the Russian princess, Sophie.
But as Bavaria waged war with Prussia, Ludwig’s sole obsession remained the visionary music of
Richard Wagner (Trevor Howard). Wagner, in turn, regarded Ludwig as an eccentric but malleable
patron and exploited him mercilessly. Ludwig retreated more and more into a fantasy world,
alarming his ministers through his irrational behaviour.
Shortly afterwards, Ludwig’s corpse was found floating in a Bavarian lake, the victim of apparent suicide.
Extras include: The Perfume of a Primrose: Silvana Mangano. Italian Portraits: Suso Cecchi d’Amic.
Documentary on Luchino Visconti directed by Carlo Lizzani.
Dempsey And Makepeace Series 2 (£24.99, Network) is out on DVD next Monday, June 26th.

himself in England, waiting for things to cool down and clashing with the beautiful Harriet Makepeace,
Cambridge graduate, daughter of an English Lord and chasing a high-flying career at Scotland Yard.
Holding them together is their boss, Gordon Spikings, irascible head of SI-10 and not a man to be
trifled with. Dempsey and Makepeace may seem like an unlikely duo but together they’re dynamite!
Available for the first time ever, this DVD also includes archive interviews from Sunday Sunday and
This Morning with both Michael Brandon and Glynis Barber.

Miami Vice Season 2 (£49.99, Universal) is out on DVD on July 24th.
One of the most popular television shows of the 1980s, MIAMI VICE helped define the fashion and music
of the period while simultaneously maintaining a high quality police drama standard. The show is famous
for its pastel colours and bright south Florida settings, which serve to counteract the sleaze its main
characters often had to deal with.
Sonny and Rico are two cops who work undercover for the Miami Police Department. They must balance
their myriad personal problems with the difficulty of being undercover in some of Miami's most rotten
criminal businesses. Luckily, upbeat 80s music, and their own personal sense of cool, help. MIAMI
VICE made a short-lived star out of Don Johnson, who eventually won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of
Sonny, and supporting star Edward James Olmos (as a police captain) won both the Golden Globe and an
Emmy.
MIAMI VICE is a fascinating cultural document of the 1980s as well as an effective and exciting cop show.
Table Tennis (£29.99, Rockstar Games) is out on Xbox 360 now.
You might come for the budget price but you’ll stay for the gameplay in what must be the most
engrossing new sports game in years. Although the realism is probably going to be beside the point
for most people this looks and plays exactly like the real thing. That means the controls basically
work like a normal tennis sim, with four basic shot types on the face buttons and some easy to
apply aftertouch available on the left stick.
You can mix and match shots by holding down multiple
buttons and there’s a handy warning rumble when you starting getting your returns too near the
edge of the table. Although the presentation is a little dry, especially for a Rockstar game,
sports games don’t get much more fun than this.
A next generation game of Ping Pong doesn’t necessarily sound like the best use of your Xbox 360’s
abilities – no matter how good the graphics are. Just a few quick plays though will turn apathy into addiction.
Tourist Trophy (£39.99, Sony) is out on PS2 now.
From the makers of Gran Turismo comes the real riding simulator – the most realistic motorcycle game
ever for the PS2. Not only that but it’s also got the best graphics ever seen in a racing game,
over 100 fully licensed bikes and 20 different race events.
When they called this a simulator they weren’t kidding. The attention to detail is unparalleled in any
other PS2 game, with 125 different bikes all of which look and handle exactly like the real thing.
Not only that but you can customise your bike’s set-up in every way imaginable, even down to the
exact way you hold your head while riding.
However, although the game’s career mode is structured like
Gran Turismo there’s no money to earn or after market parts to buy, with new bikes being won Ridge
Racer style. There’s also only a maximum of four bikes in any race, but with 37 courses to play
through that’s not a problem for the true motorcycle fanatic.
Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War (£34.99, Midway Games Ltd) is out on PC now.
The creator of Age of Empires returns to the ancient world as you take control of one of four
civilisations: the Persians, Greeks, Egyptians or Romans. In this game though you have to lead from
the front as historical figures from Julius Caesar to Alexander the Great.
In most real-time strategy games you’re just an anonymous controlling force, but here you’re actually
a real general out on the field, ordering your soldiers around and facing the same dangers they do.
All the civilisations have historically accurate units including footmen, archers, siege equipment
and specialised forces unique to each faction.
Naval combat also plays a more important role than
usual with massive sea battles featuring completely customisable ships. If you prefer to take a more
peaceful route through the game though you can recruit scientists and artisans to improve your
cities and resources, but this is primarily a battle game so don’t skimp on the defences.

"The Mystery Man" came back to the fore earlier this year with a remix of
his 1977 hit Thunder in My Heart, and if you liked that and wanted
to discover some of his earlier tracks if you're not familiar with classics
such as When I Need You, Moonlighting, Show Must Go On and Orchard
Road, then read on for the lowdown from
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts.
Half Life 2 was several years in the pipeline before it finally saw the
light of day in November 2004, and it still wasn't the most gripping of games
as certain sections just went on and on.
This release, which doesn't require the original HL2 to play, continues
from where that one ended, in the first of three planned episodes, but is
it significantly better this time round?
Nerina Pallot sets a 'Fire' up the charts on CD...
Another week, another female singer-songwriter, or so it seems. And step
forward Nerina Pallot who, according to
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts,
does make a very good album but one that still requires a fair bit of work
to improve on things for next time.
The Doctor is conspicuous by his absence in Love And Monsters...
Last year,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen
kept us up to date with the latest ongoings for the then-new Doctor, Christopher
Eccleston, but how does his tenure fare now he's become David Tennant?
This week, The Doctor was largely nowhere to be found as they played
second fiddle to a group of geeks hell-bent on tracking him down and
swapping stories each week about their sightings. Peter Kay guest-starred
as a man with far more to him than meets the eye...
Also worth a look is Doctor Who Confidential which always follows
on BBC3, and each new adventure is preceeded by Totally Doctor Who
on BBC1 each Thursday at 5pm (repeated several times throughout the week
on CBBC), as it features studio interviews with cast members such as
David Tennant and Noel Clarke.

It'd be a SiN to miss this Half Life 2 clone on PC...
The Half Life 2 Source game engine is a great leap forward for
computer game graphics but it still has its problems, but how will they
surface in this game which takes you back to the world of SiN, as Col. John
Blade, in a game that feels way too short, the reasons for which will be
explained within the review.
According to
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
it isn't much of one, as Paul Simon appears to have lost all focus with this
new release which is a far cry from his heady days with Art Garfunkel, or
even solo classics from the '70s and '80s.
Last year,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen
kept us up to date with the latest ongoings for the then-new Doctor, Christopher
Eccleston, but how does his tenure fare now he's become David Tennant?
This week, The Doctor was in a pickle as he was stranded on a spaceship
with some very odd goings on and no chance of getting home. Not only does
he have to stop the Ood, but he needs to find his TARDIS, escape from a
black hole and pay a visit to the devil himself...

666 on 06.06.06 - The number of the beast: The Omen Trilogy on DVD...
It's 06.06.06 and the time has come... for film studios to make a mint out
of creating a crap remake to a classic horror thriller, so today we look back
to the original Omen film, and its two sequels - totally discounting the
crappy fourth, made-for-TV, movie.
That said, in two weeks time they are releasing a 4-film boxset, so you have
been warned...
The baldy bitch-slapping bastard with big Ballers is back again! Hitman: Blood Money on Xbox...
The Hitman series has been one of my favourite console games in recent years
with each entry (apart from the first one) not so much building on the first
one but just doing more of the same with a few added extras. However, that's
not really such a bad thing as it's still a worthy purchase for fans of the
series.
Not the most conventional of pop stars, Prince was the darling of
the charts in the '80s but, for me, he lost it in the '90s. He's not done
much to change my view in this decade, but can this new album return to the
roots of what he does best?

The Doctor kicks Cyberman butt & travels back to the '50s...
Last year,
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen
kept us up to date with the latest ongoings for the then-new Doctor, Christopher
Eccleston, but how does his tenure fare now he's become David Tennant?
Dan returns from a brief break with reviews of the two most recent episodes,
one which resolved the Cyberman two-parter and one where The Doctor goes
back to 1953 for the Queen's Coronation but finds everyone's too much of a
slave to the television.

Tony Christie takes Amarillo to the World Cup on CD single...
Released this week:
Last year, Tony Christie came back to the fore with a 'duet' of sorts of
his famous 'Amarillo' track with comedian Peter Kay, all for Comic Relief.
Now he continues to do his bit for charridee as this reworking, for some
football event or other, does battle with a number of other tracks to be the
best and biggest World Cup song. Will
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Elly Roberts
see it as an own goal?
Other contenders include DJ Mike Read, Christine & Neil Hamilton, plus some
toss by Embrace, the dullest band on the planet.
DVDs reviewed by the editor are watched on a Panasonic TXW32R4 32" widescreen TV
