Following up his review of the Batman: The Frightening screenplay comes
one for a film which
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen
hopes will get made but it's been around a few years already so is there still
a chance for it?
Pierce Brosnan's fourth Bond flick, but far from his best. He's
joined by Halle Berry, Rosamund Pike and, from *that* Lynx advert,
Rachel Grant in the 20th Bond film released to date.
Asia Argento came to the fore for most of us in the action-adventure
xXx alongside
Vin Diesel, but the daughter of horrormeister Dario Argento is also an
established director in her own right.
Online shortly will be an interview with Asia Argento.

A double helping of this arcade smash hit (well, you get to play House of
the Dead 2 if you can complete the main mission) which will be best started
out if you have a lightgun, but is surprisingly playable with just the Xbox
joystick.
The name's English... Johnny English... at the cinema...
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen
takes a look at the Bond spoof starring Rowan Atkinson as Johnny English,
the character from the Barclaycard adverts several years ago, in a movie also
featuring Ben Miller, John Malkovich, Radha Mitchell and Natalie
Imbruglia.
Thanks for Jack Templeton from GamesMasterTV.co.uk
for the news that this month's issue of the Games Master magazine contains
the last ever episode of the TV show on DVD.
For more info click on the image, which leads to a press release about the
show and a link to the website itself.
However, it has been out before - five years ago - when it was given almost
no extras whatsoever. This version redresses the balance a bit but it's a
film well worth seeing again, and this time we've got a Dolby Digital 5.1
soundtrack.

On Monday this week I commented how it's bad enough that Sky have been adding
to their onscreen logo with red dots and "ALL NEW" logos, but the recent treatment
of intrusive voice announcements and permanent logos, like The Simpsons doughnut
advertising the nonsense that surrounds the 300th episode being shown this
weekend, had led me to add a page for Sky One too.
We've had more comments come in about this than anything else and some are
included from a link on the Sky One page. I've only used contributors' first
names on that page.
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen returns with his
regular movie news section which looks at future releases and features US and UK
top 10 cinema listings, US release dates, websites and trailers and this week
an interview with French director Pitof about his forthcoming Catwoman
movie.

The only thing crap about this game is the title. Go beyond that and you
discover an incredibly addictive game as you play as and take on Godzilla-style
creatures, knocking seven bells out of each other across a cityscape.
Traverse four different realms and restore the balance between good and evil...
Sounds like we've been here many times before, as we have with the Tomb
Raider game engine. But is there a game to go with it too?
Danger Mouse, Avenger Penguins, Victor & Hugo and Alias the Jester - all
cartoons from the 80s amongst the most wanted of all time. An adventure from
each is on this disc, with Danger Mouse's "Custard" now appearing in its

Sky One insult their viewers once too often...
It's bad enough that Sky have been adding to their onscreen logo with red dots
and "ALL NEW" logos, but the recent treatment of intrusive voice announcements
and permanent logos, like The Simpsons doughnut advertising the nonsense that
surrounds the 300th episode being shown this coming weekend, have led me to
add a page for Sky One too.
It's also possible to email the Sky bigwigs directly about their behaviour.
I've emailed them with:
"Dear Sky and the executives to which this email is addressed.
I would like you to read the following page on my site which is going live as
of tomorrow, Monday 14th April 2003, which is in protest to your disgusting
behaviour towards your viewers with regards to intrusive announcements and all
the onscreen rubbish that you are forcing upon us.
We are able to work out when a programme is "all new", and the the Simpsons
300th episode is on next weekend, even if you need a constant reminder just to
help yourself. Thankfully, I am blessed with an IQ that goes above single
figures and do not need such reminders.
I look forward to hearing from you after you have read the following page:

There's no '24' tonight due to the Golf, so
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Liam Carey
is having a well-earned break and the synopsis for episode 8 will be here
next week.
However, given that I couldn't wait two weeks after a conclusion like that,
I watched the next episode on BBC3 and was surprised... to see no "BBC THREE"
logo, no onscreen next, no interruptions during or after the programme, no
"press red"... no distractions at all. I understand there's a new set of
marketing bods at the BBC - either that or Stuart Murphy, controller of BBC3,
was off sick.
As a result, since BBC2's programme ended with squashed credits and a "next
episode" trailer (which showed us content from the same episode - duh!),
this meant that BBC3's broadcast was treated with more respect. Other BBC3
programmes that have since escaped the "BBC THREE" DOG include Burn It
and Two Pints of Lager...
It's mainly celeb-based tripe like Liquid News which remains to suffer,
although the late-night repeats of Monkey Dust still have it, which is
a shame as that's one of the few decent shows they've got. Post-midnight
programmes seem a bit of a crapshoot, though, as to whether they're DOGged or
not, so let's hope there's sense seen when the next series comes round.
Since Peter Good was appointed the Chief in Charge of Putting More
Crap Onscreen at Channel 4, he's managed to make an instant name for himself
by adding to the usual red dot a new logo (right).
I've just emailed him with the following, and you can comment directly to him
by clicking on the logo and following the page for Channel 4:
"Dear Mr Good,
Congratulations on the appointment of your job at Channel 4. It's pleasing to
know there's someone out there who has their finger on the pulse of the viewing
audience, doesn't want to insult their audience and has abolished the permanent
onscreen presence...
That's what I'd be saying if you had even the first idea what to do in your
job, but it's quite clear from your "NEWGAME" logo that you have successfully
transcended the boundaries of your predecessors with an even bigger constant
onscreen presence that proves that you only get one chance in life to screw things
up, and you grabbed it with both hands.
I previously thought that no-one could come close to BBC3's Stuart Murphy with
his penchant for end-credit interruptions, onscreen nexts and even the occasional
voice announcement DURING a programme, but he has back-tracked on some of
these annoyances and so compared to you he is a prince among broadcasters.
Please take a look at the link on my site (as described above) which indicates how ridiculous your TV
station is becoming, and, from a direct quote from yourself, how the red dot
alone isn't working and is proof that it should be scrapped.
And if "NEWGAME" doesn't get the revenue, just how far will you go to
bastardise the TV screen even further?
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen returns with his

Jimi Mistry goes to America to become a big star, but it doesn't
pan out quite the way he expects when he meets up with socialite Marisa
Tomei and porn star Heather Graham.
Released just over a year ago in March 2002, the price was near-enough
£300 but soon dropped by a hundred and beat off competition from the
Gamecube at Xmas with a games bundle that included
Splinter Cell
and
Halo.
Now the price of the solus pack has reduced to the same as the Gamecube.
As listed in a recent Movie Digest from
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen,
this animated version of The Matrix has been made into a downloadable
movie file and the first part is online now. Dan brings us his review
of this initial installment.
When DVDs were first released in the UK in early 1998, the price of a DVD
recorder was too expensive to even think about seriously. Things have changed
and a well-spec'd recorder is now available for little more than £300,
with write-once and rewritable discs certainly no more than a 4-hour
VHS tape.
After two main films and a spin-off about the latter's greatest enemy, The
Scorpion King, the animated version has been running for nearly two full
series in the US and a selection of episodes are available on DVD now.
This month you can have the chance to win the following:

As listed in last Friday's Movie Digest from
DVDfever.co.uk reviewer Dan Owen,
the following is a script review for the planned fifth feature film in the
Batman series.
The rumours are unconfirmed as of yet, but I understand that it's rumoured
for '24' to get an unheard of 25th episode to the series with which to round
it off with a surprise wedding, possibly for Jack and Nina, since they've
found themselves working together again, but can true love be found after
all the pain she put him through at the end of Season 1?
Only time will tell, literally, as the series extends to the following morning
at 9am...
