Sweet Invisibility for Kevin Bacon as the Hollow Man on DVD...
Released this week :

Basic Instinct's leg-crossing, Total Recall's brain implant

this time.

The Oscars...
Normally I provide a rundown of the winners the day after they're announced,
but I haven't had chance to watch the recording back yet and was enjoying
Hollow Man on DVD (review coming soon) too much to contemplate watching
a scraggy bit of analogue video tape.

Dustin Hoffman graduates from his virginity course in The Graduate on DVD...
The classic coming-of-age comedy/drama starring Dustin Hoffman and
Anne Bancroft was released on DVD a couple of years ago, but it wasn't
treated as well as this disc which now boasts... Well, find out for yourself.
X-Men is the long-awaited big-screen outing for the Marvel Comic
superheroes that have magic powers and - usually - two names, one real and one
flashy. Plot-wise, it's good against evil and that's about it, but there's
some cool SFX along the way and, no doubt, a sequel to come.

Universal play a Dangerous Game next month...
Well, not really, but they've just announced five new DVDs to be released
on April 30th. Alas, not many appear to be produced in widescreen (eyes pointing
more in the direction of the more recent titles, not the golden oldies) and
no price has been quoted but expect the usual £17.99 apiece.

He's the greatest! He's fantastic! He's Dangermouse on DVD...
If you were only just reaching double figures at the time when this was first
broadcast, there was only one way to get through a really shitty week at school
and that was to get engrossed in the four parts of an episode about the hero
who was already around when danger was there.

Mars Attacks in War of the Worlds on DVD...
The chances of anything coming from Mars are a million to one, but still they come.
Almost fifty years since the film was first released and long after Jeff Wayne and Justin Heyward's
bouffant hairdo could get involved in the monster madness, H.G. Wells' story of death and destruction
at the hands of the swan-shaped flying machines arrives on the digital home format.
Hector's House was before my time but this French production dubbed
into English is still a curiosity and tells the tale of Hector the dog,
Zsazsa the cat and Kiki the frog, in another of the excellent
series of Kult Kidz compilation DVDs for under a tenner.

Baby wants to... watch Blue Velvet on DVD...
She wore Blue Velvet, but there's something else about nightclub
chanteuse Dorothy Vallens (Isabella Rossellini) that Jeffrey Beaumont
(Kyle MacLachlan) wants to uncover, although he'd be better of worrying
about psycho killer Frank Booth (Dennis Hopper).
Skate or Die with Jet Set Radio on Sega Dreamcast...
Take the part of 'Beat', 'Tag' or 'Gum' - and no-one else with a sensible
name - and roller-skate around selected made-up towns upon which to spread
your graffiti.

Another 2-disc set from Fox with James Cameron's film starring Ed Harris,
Michael Biehn and the woman with the exceptionally long name and again it's
packed to the gills with extra bits and pieces but why doesn't it fully do
what's necessary?
It's the end of the world as we know it: ID4 on DVD...
The question of whether we are alone on Earth has been answered. Well, in the
movies at least where masters of subtlety (not!) Roland Emmerich and
Dean Devlin serve up two versions of their SFX-laden sci-fi fun on
2 discs.
Oh humour, where art thou? George Clooney dumbs up on DVD...
Released April 9th :
George Clooney, John Tuturro and Tim Blake Nelson are the three
chain-gang crims on the run after the former tells the others they have four
days to escape and dig up the $1.2m treasure. But show me the funny!
Time is fleeting: The Rocky Horror Picture Show on DVD...
There was never anything like it before and there never will again. Available
on two discs, this DVD could possibly be a "Science Fiction Double
Feature" :)

DVDfever is one year old!
Well actually we reached out first birthday on Feb 25th, but I forgot all
about it until after I'd posted last Monday's update so I thought I'd leave
it till this week :)
In one year we've gone from around 12,000 hits per month to over 35,000
and so as we reach this anniversary I'd like to take this opportunity to
thank everyone who visits this website regularly, all those who have written
reviews for it and continue to do so and, of course, all of the PR companies
who have supplied most of the DVDs, games and other items reviewed here.
Here's to another continued successful year at DVDfever.co.uk !

Voted No.3 in Channel 4's Top 10 Progressive Rock bands, this Moody Blues Live
DVD, subtitled "Hall of Fame", is a greatest hits-style package played live
and was recorded at the Royal Albert Hall on May 1st, 2000.

Barking mad. 102 Dalmatians on Sega Dreamcast...
I could be cynical and say this is way too repetitive a game and too reminiscent
of Croc, but then it wasn't exactly written for those getting close
to 30...
