Of this week's highlights and lowlights...

Last week I said :
"I wasn't sure if this had been released this week since a couple of
shops I tried to find it in didn't have it, including Woolies who said they'd
had no copies of any singles in all week.
It's a slow, sombre effort which puts the PSB rightfully back in the Top 10,
and was performed at their concerts with only a guitar for musical
accompaniment. It's brilliant and I'll have to get both CD singles released
sometime this week."
This week I found only one shop that stocked them and I passed as they were
full price at 4quid each and for this release there were 3 of them. I looked
in Woolies, who had written the PSBs off by not including them at all in
their new Top 50 which includes the past week's new releases, so I doubt
if they've stocked them at all. I didn't bother looking in Our Price or HMV
as that's no place for cheap anything.
If anyone knows where these can be bought for 3quid apiece or less, or wants
to sell their own, let me know. I'd like to get all three in one go though
if possible.
7 Point Break - Stand Tough
More dreadful teen pop. Obviously the quality control dept. were out to
lunch when this track was recorded.
5 Scooch - More Than I Needed To Know
Without a doubt, the new Steps. Even my girlfriend, who doesn't care much
for the charts, couldn't see the point of this band as they're the same
as Steps but with one less member and even worse music.

National Express (No.8, Feb 99) was another classic from Neil Hannon
and the band, this one being about the National Health Service, not a popular
bus and coach company, but a good advert nonetheless. However, they were
censored when the arses at Top of the Pops blanked out the word "arse" from
the song.
The single was followed up by The Pop Singer's Fear of the Pollen Count
(No.17, Aug 99) and Gin Soaked Boy (No.38, Nov 99).
