Of this week's highlights and lowlights...
40 (RE-51) Martine McCutcheon - Talking in your Sleep 39 (RE-53) Robbie Williams - She's The One
A couple of re-entries for two of last year's dullest songs.
16 Hepburn - Deep Deep Down
And this girl band definitely were feeling down last week. As Virgin are
arguing over money that they reckon they don't owe, they are refusing to
stock singles from certain record companies and bands such as Hepburn
are caught in the middle of it all.
They could have had a Top 5 hit this week, but the lack of sales pushed
them 'Deep Deep Down' to No.16.
5 Ian Brown - Dolphins Were Monkeys
No, that's just Ian Brown, the idiotic air-rage fool, who's the monkey.
3 Eiffel 65 - Move Your Body :O ===
Last year's "Blue" went to No.1 and was the third biggest-selling single of
the year. "Move Your Body" is another endless and repetitive song but while
"Blue" was entertaining after a fashion, this new track isn't.
1 Oasis - Go Let it Out :O === *1st Week at No.1*
Jeez! After their last lifeless effort, the boys Gallagher said they were
going to go the dance route, but instead just did exactly as they've done
before and repeated the same old tripe.
This single is the 5th in a row to go straight in at No.1.

7. Pet Shop Boys - I Don't Know What You Want But I Can't Give It Any More
Of two singles released last year this one was the best. With one of the
longest song titles ever written, this was another classic slice of PSB
which will be loved by all their fans, including me, but largely
ignored by everyone else. It made No.15 in July last year.
It was followed by New York City Boy (No.14, Oct 99) and another long
title, You Only Love Me When You're Drunk (No.8, Jan 2000).
I went to see the Pet Shop Boys on Dec 10th last year at the M.E.N. (Manchester
Evening News) Arena, formerly known as the Nynex Arena, which was excellent
and featured seven songs from their latest album, Nightlife, which has
a very ambient feel and I recommend it wholeheartedly, including For Your
Own Good, which opened the gig, plus I Don't Know What You Want But I
Can't Give It Any More, Happiness is an Option, Vampires, New York City Boy,
Footsteps and an acoustic version of their last single, You
Only Tell Me You Love Me When You're Drunk.
I last saw the Pet Shop Boys on their 1989 tour at the Birmingham NEC which
was more of a theatrical experience and featured several short films created
exclusively by the late director Derek Jarman. The new backdrops which appeared
behind every song, had some that were more specific than others but each played
their part and the only time we saw an actual promo video was when selected
clips of What Have I Done To Deserve This ? were played as Neil sang
the duet with the late Dusty Springfield.
Other tunes played throughout the two-hour concert included West End Girls,
Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money), It's a Sin, Young Offender, Being
Boring, Only The Wind, Se A Vida E (That's The Way Life Is),
It's Alright and a rousing finale of Go West.
The only thing that played a partial downer on the gig was that within four
songs, a number of people including the rows around us walked out and never
returned - quite odd considering they'd paid at least £25 per ticket
(and mine were closer to £30 each after you add the booking fee and
P&P). However, this wasn't such a bad thing as it meant we could move about
more and do our best to avoid the tall people in front obscuring the stage,
plus it got rid of one particularly annoying bottle blonde bimbo who just
wouldn't shut up!
And yes, they did wear THOSE wigs, but for the first half only.
The end bit :
Well, that's it for now. If you want to be added to the Widescreen
Video and Laserdisc lists, just mail me.
