[Last week's chart]

The initial bit :

For my last chart of 2000, I've posted my Top 50 singles of the year, starting with the Top 10. During 2001, I'll be going through the list one by one starting with the Top 10 in alphabetical order.

This week: 10 new entries, 0 climbers, 3 non-movers & 27 downers.

new entry re-entry climber faller non mover

CHART TIME !

(* - my current favourites)
(!!! - Single Of The Week!!!)
(:O === the current all-time hate that makes even my smilie want to hurl!)
( (R) - Repeat., ie. a re-release)

A brief analysis on the current chart situation...

    10 new entries :

    • 38 4 Strings - Diving
    • 34 Incubus - Are You In
    • 29 Weezer - Keep Fishin'
    • 25 White Stripes - Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground
    • 20 Tweenies - Have Fun Go Mad
    • 13 Jurgen Vries - The Theme
    • 12 Underworld - Two Months Off
    • 7 Paul Weller - It's Written in the Stars

    • 34 Snap - Do You See The Light
    • 32 Music - Take the Long Road
    • 24 Harvey - Get Up and Move
    • 21 Ash - Envy :O ===

    0 climbers :

    3 non-movers :

    and 27 going down.

    Big fallers include :

    • 10 (5) Ms Dynamite

    • 50 Styles - The Life
    • 51 Jameson & Viper - Selecta
    • 52 Shining - Young Again
    • 53 Joe - What if a Woman
    • 62 Dark Monks - Insane
    • 72 Breeders - Son of Three

Of this week's highlights and lowlights...

36 (16) 3SL - Touch Me Tease Me

Since their lacklustre No.16 placing last week, the three brothers of Steps' Lisa Scott-Lee have been dumped by their record company. Shame(!)

20 Tweenies - Have Fun Go Mad

A cover for children of the track originated by Blair in September 1995 which only made No.37. Who was Blair? The lanky ginger kid in the Oxo adverts with Lynda Bellingham. Where's he been since?

2 Appleton - Fantasy

Nicole and Natalie Appletop have finally got their duo project underway after years of messing about, but it's a shame it's so pedestrian and predictable. Pass.

1 Atomic Kitten - The Tide is High *2nd Week at No.1*

A rather poor cover of the Blondie track. Nuff said.

This is the 19th single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

  • 1. Aaliyah - More Than a Woman
  • 2. George Harrison - My Sweet Lord (R)
  • 3. Enrique Iglesias - Hero
  • 4. Westlife - World of Our Own
  • 5. Will Young - Anything is Possible/Evergreen

  • 14. Elvis - A Little Less Conversation (remix)
  • 15. Gareth Gates - Anyone of Us
  • 16. Darius - Colourblind
  • 17. Sugababes - Round Round

Dominator's Top 50 of 2001

The following is my look back at my Top 50 of 2001.

37. Neil Finn: Wherever You Are

Making only No.32 in April last year, this was the only Top 40 track for the lead singer of Crowded House from his solo album "One Nil", although "Hole in the Ice" just missed out (No.43, Sept 2001)
