A brief analysis on the current chart situation...
11 new entries this week, 4 climbers (Perfect Day from 3 to 1, All Saints
from 4 to 2, Janet Jackson from 5 to 4, and Steps from 20 to 14), 2 non-movers
(Vanilla at 19 and Louise at 22), and 23 going down.
Big fallers include Celine Dion from 14 to 27, and Chicken Shed from 16 to 30.
Of this week's highlights and lowlights...
31 - Brand New Heavies - Shelter *
4th single, and the title track from their current album, and it's done very
poorly compared to the others so is bound to drop out next week. Shame as it's
rather good. One difference between this and the others is that it's sung by
one of the blokes in the band instead of Siedah Garrett.
6 - Space - Avenging Angels * !!!
First single from their forthcoming album and it's superb, easily becoming the
best single of the week and also their biggest hit to date.
However, going by the chorus "Calling all avenging angels, angels, kick-ass
angels"... what exactly is a 'kick-ass' angel?
5 - Lighthouse Family - High :O ===
Second single from their current album. Dull, dull, dull.

After two weeks at the top, this charity single was knocked down in favour of
the Teletubbies for two weeks, before being passed over by the other inane

No new entries in the Top 10 this week, but the Top 5 keeps the Verve at
the top followed by Spice Girls, All Saints, Texas and Celine Dion, while
Natalie Imbruglia climbs back into the Top 10 at No.9.
Several years ago Dannii Minogue first came to light in the Aussie soap,
"Home and Away" as a long-lost layabout, and then in similar fashion to her
other comtemporaries started a singing career, but mostly out of dreadful
cover versions of old tracks like "This Is It".
Then, after a boob job and dying her hair blonde, she reinvented herself
and also became a regular TV presenter on BBC2's Electric Circus (part of
BBC1's Live and Kicking).
Obviously it had a good effect as when she came back into the charts last
year with "All I Wanna Do" (No.4, August) it sounded like one of the classic
pop tunes from the mid-80's, which was then followed-up with the equally
good "Everything I Wanted" (No.15, November).
Fans of the new Dannii will want to get her latest album, "Girl".
