This week: 12 new entries, 0 climbers, 0 non-movers & 28 downers.

new entry re-entry climber faller non mover

    0 climbers :

    0 non-movers :

    and 28 going down.

    Big fallers include :

    • 6 (1) Westlife
    • 11 (5) Mis-Teeq
    • 17 (11) Princess Superstar
    • 22 (12) Alanis Morissette

New entries from No.41-75. See who missed out this time round :

    • 42 Mathias - Hey Little Girl
    • 55 Andrew WK - She Is Beautiful
    • 56 Bad Company - Spacehopper
    • 66 Maxtreme - My House is Your House

Of this week's highlights and lowlights...

55 Andrew WK - She Is Beautiful

Very much in the vein of "Party Hard" and a little too similar and too close to the last one to make people buy it.

21 White Stripes - Fell In Love with a Girl *

Loud, raucous and very impressive.

5 Nickleback - How You Remind Me *

Another top rock tune doing the rounds on MTV2. Not much to differentiate it from most of what's on the channel though so I'm surprised it's sold so well.

2 Shakira - Whenever Wherever *

The new Britney? She looks as nice but a bit older and a deeper range to her voice. The song's okay too.

1 Will Young - Anything is Possible/Evergreen *1st Week at No.1*

The Pop Idol winner and record-breaker having sold 1.1 million copies of this single in its first week. It's a bit too twee for my tastes.

His cover of "Light My Fire" was interesting though.

This is the 5th single in a row to go straight in at No.1 :

  • 1. Aaliyah - More Than a Woman
  • 2. George Harrison - My Sweet Lord (R)
  • 3. Enrique Iglesias - Hero
  • 4. Westlife - World of Our Own
  • 5. Will Young - Anything is Possible/Evergreen

Dominator's Top 50 of 2001

After last week's look back at all the Top 50 tracks of last year, this week sees the list of my Top 50 of 2001. From next week I shall begin my look back at them.

10. Weezer - Hash Pipe

Making No.21 in July last year this still thumps along nicely, despite being censored on TV occasionally dubbing the song to just "Pipe" or "H Pipe", or even "Half Pipe".

It was followed up with the excellent "Island in the Sun" (No.31, Nov 2001).
